About this episode
They Gave Him Lenses To See What Was Already In The Room In this episode, we delve into a chilling government-corporate horror story involving confinement, invisible entities, and technology designed to reveal what the human eye cannot detect. The narrator is brought into a desert compound controlled by Axiom X, stripped of their phone and laptop, and told by Eldridge that they were deliberately allowed to survive Glenwood because their “pure” voice could be used as a vessel. As morning approaches, the contact lenses remain unopened - but the fear is already inside the room. Person: The narrator Person: Eldridge Person: The narrator’s father Person: Parsons Person: Chambery Corporation: Axiom X Government Entity: IDI Place: Room 250 Place: Arizona compound Place: Glenwood quarantine zone Topic: Invisible manifestations Topic: Axiom contact lenses Topic: Corporate control of government facilities Theme: Confinement Theme: Institutional manipulation Theme: Something using a trusted face The narrator is taken to an isolated compound in the Arizona desert. Their phone and laptop are confiscated at the gate, leaving only a notebook and pen. Eldridge reveals that IDI lost congressional funding and became dependent on Axiom X. By 1999, all five IDI facilities were allegedly operating with Axiom equipment and staff. Eldridge admits he intentionally allowed the narrator to approach Glenwood instead of stopping them. He gives the narrator Axiom X contact lenses that can supposedly reveal invisible “manifestations.” The lenses have a maximum wear time of two hours, but Eldridge never explains what happens after that. During the night, the narrator dreams of their father standing between the bed and the wall. When they wake up, the space is empty, but the fear remains strong enough that they leave every light on. The next morning, Parsons and Chambery are waiting at Facility One, where the lenses may finally reveal what is truly inside the compound. Tired of ads?
