About this episode
The night before Halloween, a boy takes a familiar shortcut through a neighbor’s backyard—and sees something he cannot explain. Before he can escape, it notices him. The visitor promises him something extraordinary: whatever he most wants for the coming year. But he cannot refuse its attention, and he cannot choose what it takes in return. Every October brings another reminder. Every wish brings another reason to endure the visit. As childhood hopes grow into adult ambitions, the life he builds becomes increasingly difficult to separate from the thing that claims to own him. How do you escape a creature that has made itself part of everything you value?
